Enfranchisement and Right to Manage Awards 2011 – Success again for MJ&S! 

Winner – Valuers of the Year 2011 

For the third consecutive year, and against stiff opposition from several well known firms, we are delighted to have won ‘Valuers of the Year’ at the Enfranchisement and Right to Manage Awards (ERMAs) on 23rd May 2011.   In particular the judges said that “MJ&S showed … their ability to apply the law in a practical way to the advantage of their clients in seeking a favourable valuation”

Tim Martin was also chosen as ‘Individual Valuer of the Year’ for his “imaginative solutions to complex enfranchisement  problems”.

 Highly commended – Website of the Year

And lastly, we received a highly commended award for our website which was described as “a simple, easily navigable and informative website with a particularly impressive online lease extension calculator”.

MJ&S are delighted to announce that Marie Joyce has been promoted to an Associate member of the firm, to take effect from 1st May 2011.

This is a richly deserved reward for Marie, who joined us as an administrator in our fledgling Management Department nearly 7 years ago.  In that time, through her own sheer grit and determination, she has read for and attained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Surveying (to complement her Degree in Geography), qualified as a Professional Member of the RICS, and latterly got to grips with the world of valuation generally and Leasehold Reform valuation in particular.  Although she stopped formally working on our management side some years ago, Marie has continued to provide a great deal of support to the department as it has evolved, and has helped her earn the respect and friendship of all of her colleagues.

 We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the winner at the Enfranchisement and Right to Manage Awards on 12^th May.  This is the second and consecutive time that we have won this industry award set up and run by News on the Block.

• Winner – Freehold Acquisition / Lease Extension Project of the Year

We like to believe that we not only brokered an advantageous result for our client but we worked hard to find a mutual compromise on what appeared initially to be a very complicated and intractable dispute.

• Highly Commended – Young Professional of the Year

Congratulations go to Marie Joyce at Marr-Johnson & Stevens who received her award competing across all surveyors, solicitors and barristers under the age of 35, from around the country.
